Invention Promotion Companies: Caveat Emptor!
Many invention promotion companies provide little or no value to the inventor. They prey on the inventor's desire to bring his product to market, making false promises about their ability to promote the product, sometimes supported by their own "market studies" of dubious value. Unethical companies are such a problem in this area of business that the FTC has a page on this topic to warn inventors:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/invnalrt.htm. In addition, the USPTO has published a
Scam Prevention warning on this topic.
Do not deal with any invention promotion company that you have not thoroughly checked out through the FTC, Better Business Bureau, and other appropriate agencies.
